🚠 What Is the Como-Brunate Funicular?
The funicular is a cable railway that has connected Piazza De Gasperi in Como to the hilltop town of Brunate since 1894. The ride lasts just 7 minutes, but it’s packed with scenic views. You’ll travel up the mountainside, first entering a tunnel and then emerging into sweeping lake views. The two cars, named BruCo 12 (light mauve) and BruCo 13 (bright red), run simultaneously from the top and bottom stations and crosses each others track in the middle.
🕒 2025 Summer Timetable (Effective July 1, 2025)
The funicular operates daily, and in summer, the schedule has been increased to handle higher tourist demand. So if you are looking for Brunate funicular tickets, make sure to visit the ticket office in the opening times:
- 6:00 – 7:00 AM: Every 15 minutes
- 7:00 – 9:00 AM: Every 12 minutes (NEW – increased frequency!)
- 9:00 AM – 12:00 Midnight: Every 15 minutes
Each ride takes 7 minutes, and both cars leave at the same time from the top and bottom stations.

Here are the current ticket prices for non-residents for the Como–Brunate Funicular:
- Single Ride: €3.60
- Round Trip: €7.20 (was €6.60 before July 1)
- 10-Ride Pass: €32.50
Discounted fares for the Como–Brunate Funicular are available for residents of Como and Brunate with an annual card (€5):
- Single Ride: €1.90
- 11-Ride Pass: €18.50
Other prices:
- Dog Ticket: €3.50 per ride
- Bike Ticket: €7.10 per ride
